Doctor Who is the most awesome Sci-fi show in existence, any detractrors keep in mind this show started in the 60's and is currently airing new episodes.
Now The doctor is very difficult to describe due to his biology, he's a time lord and they have the ability to regenerate into a totally different person when they die, so far he's regenerated ten times and each is one is uynique and going into all of them would take too long. He travelled space and time in a police box - it's bigger on the inside - called a TARDIS along with various companions. Interesting fact about the companions despite the majority of people believing most companions were hot chicks who just screamed and got kidnapped there were multiple male companions, and some of the best were male, but a decent amount of the women were competent. As with the Doctor going into them here would be impossible, mainly because I haven't really seen over half. I'll go into more detail about the Doctor and the companions I've seen later.
Okay so why did I do this review well mainly to talk about the series, which I've actually seen. this season has technically shown three doctors, four if you count 'time crash' which I recommend by the way. Any way the two main doctors so far have been Nine, played by Christopher Eccleston and Ten, played by David Tennant.
Nine was a darker doctor than all the others, though by how much varies a lot, having, presumably, been created during a time war that resulted in him being much more willing to just blow up an enemy. He however was slowly changed into a nicer less kill happy person by his, again presumably, only companion Rose Tyler. Rose was a simple London girl with a boyfriend and a mum, until one day she ran into the doctor, who was blowing up the building she was in. She spent a year travelling with the doctor, and in that time he not only became a much calmer nicer person he also fell in love, depending on who you ask this is either great or one of the worst things in doctor who history, there are plenty worse though.
Now I admit I haven't seen all of Nine's run but from what I've seen he's a great doctor, if a bit too serious for my taste. He was truly the doctor in many ways, he spouted technobabble at a thousand words a minute, he was easily distracted, and he could turn deadly serious at the drop of a hat. However, like those before him he was also different, the time war had changed him, made him grow up almost and as such he was very serious when it came to dramatic situations, whereas most doctors before, and the one after, usually were humourous until it came right down to the wire.
That's all the time I have so tune in some time later for part 2 where I review David Tennant's doctor, and possibly the whole of the 'RTD era.'

The Tribe
Okay here's my first T.V. show review. Of a show I'm sure no one has heard of, and as no one is reading this blog that's a good thing.
Okay so incase nobody doesn't know what the tribe is it is a New Zealand show about a world without adults. The show deals with what kids would do in this situation, mainly cause chaos, in a believable way and the characters are very well thought out. The story follows the tribe, who become the mallrats early on in the first season, as they try and survive in a world where power is more important than anything else, or at least they do in the first season. Now as I've only seen the first season and a little bit of the second season this review will only encompass the first season, the other seasons will be done as I finish them. So without further ado my review about the tribe.
The tribe is show based on a simple premise, what would happen if all adults were to die. The simple answer, chaos and anarchy. The longer answer involves hope, for the world to rebuild itself. The first season doesn't show much of the rebuilding and is more focused on the titular tribe trying to work together. It shows a group of people, from different backgrounds and with very different personalities, trying to survive in the Crapsack World that a lack of adults has created.
One interesting part about this season is that not once do we get more than a passing mention about a characters backstory, and when I say a character I do mean only one. This helps show what the show is about, creating a new world. The main characters are all potrayed realistically and are very diverse. From the always schememing and manipulating Ebony, who happens to be the Big Bad for the season, to Amber, a girl who does the best she can to try and get the tribe to work together, to Lex the Jerkass who's only in it for himself, and his girlfriend/wife Zandra, to Tai-San the Granola Girl who's beliefs get under everyone's skin. Naturally these personalities clash and they don't really start working together until the final arc of the season. But that's the point they aren't a Nakama, not even close but still they stick up for each other when it matters.
There are only some minor problems I have with the series one of these is the pacing, for the first fourty episode there isn't really a plotline the story actually sticks with, there are multipe episode arcs but none of them are really plot relevant, there is also the threat of Ebony and her tribe but until the final arc that only realy serves as a reason for the mallrats not to go outside. The other problem is a nitpick but can still be infuriating, the hairstyles and facial marking, they start off fine, and in fact most stay that way, the annoying part is the hairstyles and facial markings will change at times when a character really shouldn't have been able to. One fine example is between episodes Jack, the resident smart guy manages to change his facial paintings while locked up in a cell overnight, a nitpick yes but one that can take you out of the story. So to summarise The tribe is about hope, the characters don't get along and hairstyles change at ridiculous times.
Sorry for the links to Tv tropes, this is my review from there copied onto here.

Bum reviews: Tripod vs the dragon.
Oh My God! This is the greatest concert I've ever been to in my life. There's these three guys who are going to play Dungeons & Dragons, and one of the guys wants to be a dog with a human body, I was a dog with a human body once, it hurt. So they go to the dungeon masters house and she's a girl, I know I couldn't believe it either, since when do girls play Dungeons & Dragons?
And so the three guys find a map in one guys lute case and they go to explore the part of the map that's not there, because that always works out well in the movies, wait. Then they fight an Orc, I used to fight Orcs all the time. And so this one guy, who is a singer meets this girl, who is also a singer and they fall in love. But it turns out the girl is the dragon, and she will have to kill the guy if he comes near her territory she'll have to kill him, I had a girlfriend who was a dragon once, it didn't end on good terms.
And so the three guys travel for a long time until one fall down a dungeon, and the other two just walk off. But not to worry because the guy meets some wise magicians who give him a spear of knowledge, I had a spear of knowledge once, but I don't know where I put it. And so the guy with the spear meets up with the other guys and they travel by boat to the unexplored part and when they get there they have to fight the dragon. And so the guy whos inlove with the dragon, but doesn't know it's her throws a spear at her and kills her, that's the same thing that happened to me.
And then the guy with the staff goes crazy with powerm and the guy who was in love with the dragon, and now knows she was the dragon, gets all depressed. But not to fear he can get her back by going to the underworld, I travelled to the underworld once, or it may just have been drugs. So he crosses a river of sticks gets past a two headed puppy and finds the love of his life. But she's a slave to the devil,. But he tries to win her back by playing a song to the devil, I played a song to get back my girlfriend once, unfortunately she was deaf. And anyways he fails to get the girl, but he can play again, and he does and he wins the girl, wouldn't it be great if you could redo life over again, I wouldn't be living on the streets. And so then they meet the Orc that they killed at the beginning, and it has an army, don't you just hate it when that happens. But it's time for everyone to go home, and that's the end.
I liked this concert it contained everything I need to enjoy myself, a warm room, a seat, and people who don't look at me in pity.
With apologies to Doug Walker.
